At Camilla’s request, Diane takes off to the party in a black limousine that is already waiting for her. The car refers to the opening scene and can be seen as a symbol of death. When the limousine stops, Camilla appears out of the dark and takes Diane with her by a shortcut through some bushes, this symbolises a turning point in her life, same as for Rita in her dream. While holding hands, Diane seems very happy and excited but when they arrive at the party, Adam walks up to them and offers champagne. When he says “Here’s to love” to Camilla while raising his glass, Diane is very jealous and says the same to Camilla, only now, Camilla doesn’t drink. Adam’s mother joins the group and introduces herself: “Just call me Coco, everybody does”. This is an echo of her welcoming words at the beginning, although here she is obviously annoyed at Diane's being late, and is almost rude with her. So we understand that Diane uses Coco in her dream, but as a positive, hospitable mother figure instead.

After this scene, we get to see a blurry image, just before everybody sits at the table. It shows that she is becoming delusional, for Diane this dinner party is a painful moment, she thinks that everybody is against her and interprets everything in an extreme manner.

Over dinner, Diane is telling about her career: “When my aunt died…anyway she…she left me some money.” The sentence is not finished, we do not know exactly what she wanted to say but we assume that her aunt must have played an important role in her life and career. The reason for Diane’s unstable life might be caused by her death.

After the talk, Diana takes as sip of her espresso and spots an anonymous industry figure while Camilla is saying "Yo nunca fuí a Casablanca con Luigi". This man looks at Diane in a kind of interested, almost predator-like way. In her dream Diane transforms this stranger into the Mafioso Luigi Castigliane who demands an impossibly perfect cup of espresso. He also obliges Adam to cast a different girl for the part so Camilla would never meet Adam. Here we see Diane’s urge to come between Camilla and Adam’s wedding.

The blond girl walks up to Camilla and they kiss each other's lips, so Camilla wants to make it clear to Diane that their story is over. Diane hates the blond girl for this and uses her in her dream as the untalented Camilla Rhodes who gets the lead part in the movie.

The moment the blond girl leaves, the cowboy crosses the room. This is the second time in the movie where Diane sees him, which suggests something bad will happen to her. The first time she saw him was when he woke her up out of her dream: “Time to get up, girl.”

While laughing hysterically, Adam announces his engagement with Camilla, Clearly it was Camilla’s intention to hurt Diane by inviting her, even though she knows Diane is crazy about her. By the looks of Coco, we can also see that she is not too happy with her son marrying Camilla.
